Samsung Chromebook Series 3

It's been awhile since I have posted here.  I am sitting with my daughter and she suggested I write a post on our new Chromebook.  I am using it to type this post right now!  It's a great laptop for people who are already invested in the Google ecosystem.  It's amazing what you can get done with this great computer.

Finding the time

It's been quite awhile since I have posted here!  Many new obsessions have come and gone!  I have been quite busy and find that I am having a tough time keeping up.  I wanted to direct your attention to photos of the new model S from Tesla.  Check out this article from Engadget.

Seeing X-Men first class tonight!  Should be good!

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Have you seen this movie yet? No?  Well you must go rent it on Blu-ray!  It's a fantastic movie that has a little something for everyone.  The basic premise is, Scott Pilgrim is a slacker, and he wants to date this girl named Ramona Flowers.  In order to date her he has to defeat her seven evil exes.  The movie moves at a really quick pace.  If you're a fan of video games from the 80's I really don't see how you wouldn't like it.  Also being from Ontario just outside of Toronto, I love the fact that the movie is based in Toronto and doesn't try to mask it.  If you want to read the graphic novels before watching the movie, they were written by Bryan Lee O;Malley.  You can find his website here.  Overall I love this movie and have watched it tons of times now.  I am in lesbians with it (watch the movie and you will get what I mean)

Electric Vehicles- The future?

As I write this, I don't want you to think that this website is only going to be about electric cars, because I have already done a post on this subject.  But I wanted to write about the Nissan Leaf.  It will be coming to Canada in 2011 and I for one can't be more excited.  Let's take a look at the facts.  The Leaf can go 160km on a single charge.  Looks and feels like a gas powered car.  But it does not have a tailpipe, no transmission, no timing belt etc.  The idea of not having to go to the gas station or ever have an oil change again is really exciting. They have not announced a price yet for Canada, but if we go by US prices it's going to have a MSRP of $32,000.  In Ontario there is a rebate of $8,500 dollars.  So that drops the price down to $23,500. So you don't have to be a celebrity to own this car.  It will be fun to see how this plays out in the coming year.

The Social Network

Hi Everyone

Just saw the Social Network last night.  David Fincher is at the top of his game.  It's definitely a contender for movie of the year.  It's very rare that a really good adult drama seems to hit the theater these days.  But this movie held my interest from beginning to end.  I wonder if Mark Zuckerberg is really like that.  I am sure some of how he is portrayed is truthful.  It certainly doesn't paint Sean Parker founder of Napster in a good light.  If your looking for a great story that will hold your interest from beginning to end look no further than The Social Network.

The Future Is Here!

As I pump the $70 fuel into my 2005 Dodge Caravan I think to myself there has to be a better way.  Sure there are Hybrid vehicles out there but, what I want is an affordable pure electric vehicle.  With my latest obsession, I am smitten with the Tesla Roadster.  It's sexy, runs completely on batteries and can do 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds.  Plus it can go 200+ miles on a single charge.  So where do I sign up?  There is just one problem, this car costs over $100,000 dollars!  Tesla is currently working on the Model S which is a sedan that will retail closer to the $50,000 dollar mark.  But what I am really looking forward to, will be the next model after the Model S, which is said to be a mass produced economically affordable vehicle.  I for one can't wait for that day!

Beauty and the Beast Blu-ray

I have always been a sucker for beautifully animated movies.  As far as 2d goes Disney has always been the kind.  Well yesterday they came out with Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition Blu-ray and I must say it's fantastic.  The picture and sound quality is top notch.

Update:  There appears to be a glitch with the documentary on the second disc.  At this point I don't know if it's a PS3 issue or a mastering issue of the actual discs.

First Post

I guess I should start out, with how I came to use the name Evilpenguinj.  Well first off there is nothing really evil behind it.  I know, sorry to disappoint.  I have always been a fan of stop motion animation and I really liked the Wallace and Gromit series by Nick Park.  There is an episode entitled "The Wrong Trousers"  In it there is an Evilpenguin who is a thief.  I always liked it and went with Evilpenguinj, the "J" being the first initial of my real name.  Most people who know me expect me to be obsessed with at least one thing most of the time.  It could be a movie, a car, anything. So I am going to try and write about my obsessions so maybe you the reader will get hooked as well.
